In a statement on Friday night, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei vehemently condemned the airstrikes that Israel launched against the residential areas of Beirut earlier in the morning.
He said the attacks, carried out on the International Quds Day as the world abhorred the Israeli occupation and genocidal crimes in Palestine, amount to the blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.
Denouncing the Israeli regimes criminal action as a flagrant violation of Lebanons territorial integrity and sovereignty, Baqaei reminded the United Nations and the guarantors of the truce deal of their direct responsibility and called for the international communitys immediate and effective measures to stop the recurrent breaches of the ceasefire.
The excuses made by the Zionist regime for justifying the aggression against Lebanon are totally baseless and unjustifiable, and the international community must make decisive plans to counter the occupying regimes constant law-breaking in the region from Gaza to Lebanon and Syria- and the regimes growing threats against the international peace and security, the Iranian spokesman added.
The Israeli regime on Friday carried out an airstrike on Lebanons capital for the first time since a fragile truce between the Zionist army and the Lebanese Hezbollah in November halted a war between the two.
Residents fled as a building was flattened in the Hadath neighborhood in Beiruts southern suburbs on Friday when Israel carried out four strikes an attack reminiscent of the months-long bombing campaign of last year when Israeli jets pounded the area.
The Israeli regime claimed that the target was a Hezbollah military storage facility for drones.
Israel also carried out attacks in the town of Kafr Tibnit in southern Lebanon on Friday, killing three people and wounding 18, including children and women, according to Lebanons Ministry of Public Health.
