Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani announced on Wednesday that Sahand has been brought back to service only in 10 days, while the normal period to put a non-operational destroyer into operation may be several months.
He also unveiled plans to boost the combat capabilities of the Iranian Navys destroyers.
The commander said the operational power of Sahand will be upgraded as the destroyer is going to be equipped with 12 missiles of three different types.
The destroyer will be also furnished with Sayyad-3 and Navvab air defense missile systems in the near future, he stated.
Sahand was salvaged after sinking in Irans southern port city of Bandar Abbas in July 2024.
After taking part in a massive war game, Sahand was dispatched to the northern waters of the Indian Ocean for a mission to ensure security.
Sahand destroyer joined the Navy in December 2018.
The destroyer is equipped with anti-ship cruise missiles, a helicopter deck, and electronic warfare systems.
