The Iranian administrations spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani was quoted by Russian state news agency RIA Novosti on Tuesday as saying that Putin's visit to Iran "is currently being worked out."
"Indeed, President Putin has an invitation to pay an official or working visit to Iran. The dates have not yet been agreed. As soon as they are agreed, we will inform you," Peskov told reporters on Wednesday, when asked about a possible visit.
"We highly value our partnership with this country and we highly value the depth of our relationship in a wide variety of areas."
Back in March, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called for close cooperation with Iran onregional and international issues.
Lavrov hailed the growing relations between Russia and Iran, pointing to the conclusion of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two nations signed in January, a rapid increase in the trade exchanges, and the implementation of the joint infrastructural projects.
The Russian foreign minister also expressed hope that consultations and close coordination between Russia and Iran over major regional and international issues would continue and the two nations would carry out the previous agreements through cooperation.
