In a statement released on Saturday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the Israeli strikes on Yemen as a new move in the endless chain of crimes against Muslim nations in the region.
The Israeli attacks on the economic infrastructures and public facilities of Yemen, including the ports of Hudaydah, Ras Issa, and Salif, amount to an egregious violation of international law and the UN Charter and also constitute a flagrant war crime and crimesagainst humanity, he said.
The Iranian spokesman denounced the Israeli attacks on Yemen as a brutal action with the purpose of depriving the Yemeni people of the vital means of life.
He further held the US, the UK and a number of other Western governments accountable for complicity in the Israeli atrocities in Gaza and its acts of aggression againstregional Muslim nations.
The unconditional supports from the US, Britain and a number of other Western states for the Zionist regime have undoubtedly emboldened it in the course of law-breaking, aggression and massacre of defenseless Palestinian women and children, and now the oppressed Yemeni nation. Those governments are directly complicit in the measures that have been taken and must be held accountable before the worlds public opinion, Baqaei added.
He further decried the UN Security Councils inaction and muted response to the Israeli strikes, saying such silence attests to the decline of the councils legal and moral might.
The spokesman also offered his condolences on the martyrdom of a large number of innocent Yemeni people in the recurrent Israeli attacks.
The Islamic world must rise against the Zionist regimes expansionism and warmongering by realizing its moral and legal responsibility and stand against the rogue regime through unity and solidarity, because the continuation of these conditions will not only make the entire region more insecure, but also seriously jeopardizeworld peace, he warned.
