TEHRAN, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran and Pakistan on Tuesday agreed to enhance cooperation and fight terrorism along their common border, Iran's official news agency IRNA reported.
The issue was underscored during a meeting in Tehran between Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, and Pakistan's visiting Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, according to the report.
Baqeri said the two countries' armed forces were "decisively determined" to eradicate terrorism on both sides of the shared border.
He said the coordination between the Iranian and Pakistani armed forces in enhancing control over the common border had been "effective and valuable," emphasizing that both sides should continue to sustain and strengthen their military interactions and cooperation at all levels
Munir, for his part, emphasized the need to expand cooperation and interaction between the two countries' armed forces, highlighting that the Iranian military possesses "valuable experiences" across various fields.
He added that Pakistan had always sought to expand its security and defense cooperation with Iran, calling for enhancing cooperation in the fight against terrorism along the shared border.
