Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei denounced the instrumental use of the IAEA Board of Governors by the US, France, the UK, and Germany to cast doubt on Irans peaceful nuclear intentions.
He firmly rejected the claims in the resolution, which was passed Thursday based on a politically biased report from the IAEA director general.
Baqaei called the move baseless and unjust, designed solely to pressure Iran into relinquishing its legitimate right to peaceful nuclear technology.
He stated that the consequences of this hostile and destructive action fall squarely on its initiators.
Iran, he said, will take appropriate measures in defense of the nation's legal rights and interests.
Baqaei rejected accusations that Iran has failed to meet its obligations under the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement as unfounded and fabricated.
He noted that even the IAEA director generals own report does not explicitly make such a claim, underlining the dishonest and malicious nature of the resolutions drafters.
Recalling the long record of obstruction by the US and European powers in Irans scientific and economic development, Baqaei pointed to two decades of obstruction by the US and its European allies, who have imposed illegal sanctions and threats under the pretext of concern over Irans peaceful nuclear activities. Despite Irans full cooperation and the signing of the JCPOA to address any concerns, the West has repeatedly attempted to hinder Irans nuclear progress.
Despite these pressures, Baqaei said Iran has transformed the challenge into an opportunity by strengthening its domestic nuclear technology through the determination and ingenuity of its youth.
Baqaei expressed regret over the IAEA director generals biased conduct, pointing to misleading claims in his report and inflammatory remarks to the media, which he said have undermined the agencys professional credibility.
He called on the director general to adhere strictly to his mandate under the IAEA Statute and refrain from political behavior.
Baqaei thanked China, Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Belarus for issuing a joint statement rejecting the resolution and praised the countries that voted against or abstained, signaling their rejection of the Western blocs manipulation of the IAEA Board.
He reaffirmed the Iranian peoples resolve to protect their rights under the UN Charter and the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
